365 Days of Poetry: Day Two-Hundred and Eighty-One

one hundred years.
from the heydey of steel.
migrating ever west.
to dustbowl and locust swarm.
then the promise of gold.
and the warmest of oceans.
it all sticks together.
in a most unusual way.
water, mountains, sand.
people fracture and fray.
no compromise in June.
the divorce rate is high.
love too much to prove.
