365 Days of Poetry: Day One-Hundred and Ninety-Seven

from this @waytoofantasy prompt.

somewhere old heroes.
shuffle safely down the street.
gone are valor and good deeds.
washed away in crimson.
blades and skins.
of too thick yarn.
blankets muffling.
the terror of war.

sometimes it is hard to feel.
when life becomes the same.
a second skin takes over.
absorbing all the blame.
