365 Days of Poetry: Day One-Hundred and Fifty-Eight

happy birthday.
you should be here.
we would watch the rain.
and play video games.
feeling safe, free of fear.

happy birthday.
I know I’ll see you soon.
sorry we have to stay away.
I know you loved your room.

happy birthday.
you’ve grown up so tall.
we’ll be a lot better.
after this fall.

happy birthday.
I’ve never missed it before.
but you know I love you.
and will help you be more.
