365 Days of Poetry: Day One-Hundred and Twenty-Four

saffron.
orange.
yet yellow.
the mark of luxury.
overused at
the first opportunity.

the excess of the rich.
denied to the
ninety-nine percent.
a group so large.
organization was a failed theme.
from the start.

revolution will come.
at some truly desperate time.
there is no dust bowl here.
or pompous king.
eating yellow food
all day, taxes spent
on saffron.
