365 Days of Poetry: Day One-Hundred Twelve

open me up.
take what’s inside.
forget my heart.
forget my pride.

here comes the door.
here comes my face.
forget the start.
forget the place.

the Virgin Mary smiles down.
benevolent and strange.

the Devil gives his grin.
harbringer of change.

close me down.
I’m done with pride.
forget going up.
forget what’s inside.

here comes the floor.
never cared for my face.
forget my heart.
forget this place.
